Meet Gucci (aka Jimmy) – The Three-Legged Wonder.
From heartbreak to hope, Gucci’s story is one of resilience. Once abandoned in a NSW pound with a shattered pelvis and dislocated back leg, this brave boy lost a limb but never lost his sparkle. Now fully recovered and thriving as a tripod, Gucci is ready to bound into his forever family’s heart.
Gucci is gentle, playful, and eager to please. He’s happiest when he’s included as part of the family, and he loves being around people of all kinds. Children are his soft spot – he knows exactly when to be gentle, showering them with affection while keeping his playful side in check.
Playtime is a big part of Gucci’s world. Tug toys, balls, chew toys, and zoomies with doggy friends are his absolute favourites. He also loves his walks and will match your energy – whether it’s heading out for an adventure or snoozing through a lazy afternoon by your side.
Gucci has been raised around cats in foster care and, once introduced properly, he gets along with them well. Dogs, though, are his greatest joy – he would love a home with a similar-sized playmate to romp around with.
He’s also a clever boy who already knows plenty of tricks and manners. He can “wait” for meals and at the road, responds to “okay” or “let’s go,” and knows “touch,” “shake,” “on your bed,” and “look.” Sit and down are still works in progress, but that’s only because balancing on three legs can be tricky. He tries hard and is always eager to learn.
At home, Gucci is crate-trained and toilet-trained. He hasn’t had any accidents since his early days, and he sleeps happily through the night if he’s taken out before bed and again in the morning. He travels well in the car, too, enjoying the wind in his face before curling up for a nap in the backseat.
Gucci does sometimes show a little separation anxiety when first left alone. He’ll cry at the start, but soon settles down. He’ll thrive with enrichment – Kongs and lick mats are his favourites – and in a home where someone is often around to give him the company he craves.
Because he’s mostly Kelpie, daily walks are essential to keep him mentally and physically stimulated. He hasn’t been on long hikes yet, but with the right terrain, he would love to give them a try.
Above all, Gucci is a survivor with a heart full of love to give. He’s playful, affectionate, resilient, and loyal – the perfect mix of adventure buddy and cuddle companion. He’s ready to be the centre of his new family’s world, and he’ll give back every ounce of love he receives.
