Their second chance begins in your hands
Dogs for Foster or Foster-to-Adopt
Thinking about adopting a dog, but not sure if you’re ready to commit?
Our foster-to-adopt program lets you care for a rescue dog first and see how you bond before making adoption official. At Mornington Peninsula Dog Rescue Incorporated (MDPRI), we believe this is the best way to ensure the right forever match.
Join our community and give a dog in need their second chance. If you have any queries or would like further information on Fostering and Foster-to-Adopt, please reach out via our Contact page. We’d love to connect with you.
If we have foster or foster-to-adopt dogs available, you can find them listed below.
Be sure to stay in touch via our socials for up-to-date announcements, fostering and adoption availability.

Boof
GENDER: MALE
AGE: 4 YEARS
BREED: STUMPY TAIL CATTLE DOG X AMERICAN STAFFYThis gorgeous boy never expected to be looking for a new home again, but here we are, and our hearts are aching for him. Boof is a true working breed through and through — loyal, sensitive, and deeply bonded to his people. Boof is happiest close to his human, but is also fine being outside during the day when no one is home. He's cat and dog-friendly, and is perfect on the lead. He's food-motivated and very trainable. Boof is not a dog for inexperienced owners. He can be protective of his home and needs calm, respectful introductions with visitors. He is also not suitable for young children. Boof is the kind of dog who will give you his whole heart — but you must earn it gently. Once that bond is built, he is fiercely loyal, affectionate, and an absolute superstar companion.

Hop Goodenia
GENDER: MALE
AGE: 2 YEARS
BREED: KELPIE MIXURGENT FOSTER/FOSTER-TO-ADOPT NEEDED
Hop Goodenia is a smart, loyal boy who learns quickly and loves being around his people. He is the ultimate shadow dog and will happily follow you from room to room just to be close. Hop Goodenia has plenty of Kelpie energy and enjoys a good run, but he’s just as happy to spend quiet days curled up on the couch snoozing with his humans. Belly rubs are high on his list of favourite things. Hop Goodenia would be best suited to a home without young children or men wearing high-vis clothing. He would likely do well with another dog, as companionship can be really beneficial for him. He has also been cat-friendly. Hop Goodenia would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time, who can give him the love, structure, and companionship he enjoys.
