If you’ve ever wished for a dog who feels like a gentle sigh at the end of a long day… meet Eggnog, lovingly known as Dutchy.

A striking black-and-white Greyhound with a soft soul and kind eyes, Eggnog is a fresh-faced, handsome 4-year-old boy who is quietly learning that life can be safe, warm, and full of love.

Eggnog is an ex-racer and didn’t get much experience with home life early on, but goodness me — what a sweetheart he is. Despite his past, he’s affectionate, gentle, and beautifully mannered. On walks, he’s friendly with everyone he meets — adults, children, and other dogs — soaking up the world with calm curiosity.

Once walkies are done? Classic Greyhound mode activated.

Eggnog is an elite-level snoozer who is more than happy to nap the day away on his comfy bed… preferably close enough to keep you in sight. He’s a quiet little shadow, always nearby for pats and reassurance.

Dog Social & Thriving

Eggnog adores the company of another dog and has absolutely blossomed alongside his foster sister. Having a canine friend helps him feel settled and confident, and he enjoys sharing toys like balls and teddies with gentle enthusiasm.

Food & Treats

Not fussy at all — meals are happily accepted, and treats? Well… they are always appreciated in all forms.

Training & Manners

Being an ex-racer, Eggnog doesn’t know many commands yet, but he doesn’t need to. He walks beautifully on lead, is calm and easy to live with, and is slowly adjusting to the softer life. He hasn’t quite discovered the joys of couches and beds yet, but we suspect that revelation will come in time.

Cats

Tested with cats on lead and showed no interest.

A very good boy indeed.

Home Life

  • Eggnog would suit a home with:

  • Another friendly dog (preferred)

  • Children and a gentle family environment

  • Daily walks and a calm routine

  • Someone happy to give him time, patience, and love

  • He can be left alone for short periods and settles well at home.

Important Note

Due to his past, Eggnog is currently very fearful of car travel. He won’t be your road-trip buddy just yet — and possibly never — but with time, patience, and careful conditioning, things may improve. For now, he’s happiest staying close to home with his humans and doggy friends.

Eggnog isn’t flashy. He’s not loud. He doesn’t demand.

He’s soft, kind, and quietly wonderful — the sort of dog who slips into your life and, before you realise it, your heart too.

If you’re looking for a gentle companion who will love you deeply and ask for very little in return, Eggnog (Dutchy) might just be your perfect match.
