Her name in Japanese means snow and happiness, and that’s exactly what this beautiful girl brings into every room she enters. Coconut Slice is a stunning and clever 2-year-old Irish Wolfhound x Staffy, complete with the cutest little forehead wrinkles that give her so much character. While her past before foster care is unknown, her present is full of promise and joy.
A Playful Spirit
Coconut Slice is best described as a bouncy giraffe — with her long legs, she could be an Olympian in training! She loves her daily walks, using her powerful nose to sniff and explore the world. Although she can’t go off lead due to her limited hearing, she’s a delight to walk, quickly finding her rhythm and learning to mostly keep to the left. Energetic and youthful, she’s discovering the joys of toys, mastering the art of tug-of-war, and working out how to get treats from her kongs.
Affectionate & Resilient
This sweet girl has both sight and hearing impairments, but they don’t hold her back in the slightest. She navigates the world with confidence and charm, proving that nothing stops her from enjoying life to the fullest. Coconut Slice loves having company and is content with a good 40-minute walk each day. She’s also proven she can be left alone for short and long periods with minimal mischief (just one pair of socks lost so far).
Due to some vision impairment in one eye, Coconut Slice can be cautious when meeting new people, especially men. With patience, kindness, and coming down to her level, she soon decides you’re part of her inner circle — and from then on, you’re her best friend for life, complete with lean-ins and big hugs.
Foodie at Heart
Coconut Slice is highly food-motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding. Over the past few weeks, she’s been gaining healthy weight and is now in a good routine with breakfast and dinner, keeping her satisfied. She’s also learning better kitchen manners, and her carers proudly report no food has disappeared off the bench in weeks!
Best with Older Kids
Coconut Slice currently lives with a 1- and 3-year-old, and while she is gentle — even taking food ever so softly from little hands — her zoomies can sometimes be a bit too powerful for tiny humans. For this reason, we feel she’d thrive best in a home with slightly older kids who can join in with her training and play.
Doggy Friendships
She adores other dogs, though her lack of full hearing means she’s still learning to read social cues and can miss the “leave me alone” signals. Because of this, she’d do best as an only dog who socialises through training and short play sessions at fenced parks. With patience and guidance, she’ll continue to blossom into a polite playmate.
Adventure Buddy
Coconut Slice is fantastic in the car and has already enjoyed outings to Petbarn, Bunnings, dog washes, and plenty of parks and trails. She’s always ready for the next adventure and would make the perfect sidekick for someone who enjoys getting out and about.
