Meet Alejandro, Alex for short. This 3-year-old Stumpy Tailed Heeler X had a rough start to life with his first year on the NSW streets.
He’s a shy boy with new people, but once he trusts you, he’s as loyal as they come! Alejandro loves following his foster mum and dad around the house and garden all day. He’s an active pup and enjoys running off leash often through the woodland near his foster carer’s home. But in the evenings, Alejandro loves snuggling up on the couch with his humans - he’s very affectionate with those he trusts.
Alejandro’s recall is fantastic, and he knows how to sit, lie and go to his bed. He walks well on a lead when needed, but his favourite (as he’s a herding breed) is a long walk off leash as often as possible to ensure he’s thoroughly stimulated. He loves jumping in the car and joining his family on outdoor adventures (and he loves the beach!). However, due to his tough start to life, he won’t suit a life in a busy household with lots of new people, or walking with lots of people traffic (unless you’re willing to work with him on this).
Alejandro loves other dogs and MUST go to a home with another friendly dog. His other main need is loving, active humans who will be patient with his nerves. He also gets along well with his foster cat friend.
MPDRI will not accept applications without another friendly active dog.
Alejandro is fine to be left on occasions, but he prefers company and having his family at home most of the day. If left, he will eagerly wait by the door for you to come home and take him for a walk.
